Types of Crystals
We’ve provided a link below to the Topaz Mountain Gem Mine website which outlines how to gain access to the mine. Please follow the rules and instructions provided by the mine owners.
I visited this mine in the late 90s and the crystals are incredible but elusive. If I’m not mistaken the color is not stable which means if you leave them in direct sunlight then the color will fade over time.
Here’s a list of the most popular finds.
- Colorless Topaz – Small to large crystals have been found.
- Blue Topaz – Light to medium blue in color and the crystals range in size from small to large.
- Champagne Topaz – Sherry-colored crystals can be found in various sizes.
- Bi-Color Topaz – These seem to be the rarest and the bifurcation is not very strong but is visible.
This mine is very well known for its amazing Topaz. Make sure you sign up for the next dig and share with us what you find.
